Through the years, Transworld Electric has always remained dedicated to our core values which includes safety and innovation. Our mission is to remain a leader in the electrical industry and a leading provider of safety. We execute this by ensuring our electricians are equipped for every task and by using innovative top of the line technologies.
We recently invested in the 3M Dynatel Advanced Cable and Fault Locator 2273 which is designed to find the path and estimated depth of buried cables and pipes and has the ability to find underground faults. This helps to cut project risks by reducing the safety hazards, costs, and delays that are commonly associated with troubleshooting
Would the 3M Dynatel Advanced Cable and Fault Locator 2273 help your construction project or service call?
Our licensed electricians are here to help.
The 3M Dynatel Advanced Cable and Fault Locator 2273 is a microprocessor-based system that incorporates advanced digital signal processing techniques to quickly and efficiently locate sheath (earth return) faults and trace the path of underground cables, both copper and fiber optic (with metallic trace wire). When you’re tracing a buried conductor, the transmitter sends a current through the conductor and the current causes an electromagnetic field or signal around the conductor. The receiver detects the field allowing you to trace the path on the surface and identify the location of any faults or earth/ ground faults. By locating this accurately you can save time and cost while troubleshooting. There are 3 methods of applying transmitter signal to a conductor: Direct Connect Method, Dyna-Coupler Method, and Induction Method. This helps to cut project risks by reducing the safety hazards, costs, and delays that are commonly associated with troubleshooting.
The 3M Dynatel Advanced Cable and Fault Locator 2273 can accurately:
- Locates cable path
- Estimate depth of cable/pipe
- Measures signal current in the cable/pipe
- Identifies cable using toning function
- Locates energized power cable with direct readout of cable depth
- Passive locate of power cables
- Pinpoints sheath or ground faults and cable breaks
- Discriminates between light and heavy faults
