Transworld Electric wishes you and your loved ones a Happy Valentine’s Day! We appreciate all the support and love we have felt over the years from our loyal clients in the Charleston area and throughout the state of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
Transworld Electric electricians show their love to the customers by staying committed to our core values. Core values are the heart of a business because they define who we are, how we work, what we believe in and what we stand for. They impact every decision we make as a company and as individual employees, every day.
Transworld’s core values were not chosen randomly, but rather, they were deliberately chosen with careful consideration and with safety as the top priority.
Why is safety our top priority? Because lives depend on it.
We are continuously working around hazardous conditions and we know that to be truly successful, we must take personal responsibility for the safety of ourselves and those around us.
A personal commitment to safety can only be demonstrated through action.
How do we put safety into action?
- Highly Selective Hiring Process
We believe that in order to continue as a leader in safety, we need individual leaders throughout the company that share a personal and professional commitment to protecting the safety and health of our employees, our contractors, our customers, and the people of the communities in which we serve.
- Training and Education
We recognize potential hazards exist every day and we are dedicated to investing in our employees. We ensure that our employees are equipped for every task so they can safely complete it in a timely and professional manor.
All of our field employees have received the latest training in NFPA 70, OSHA, NEC, and are First Aid and CPR certified. Many of our skilled electricians hold a Master Electrical License, Level 1& 2 Thermography Certification, and Level 1& 2 Ultrasonic Testing Certification. Our electricians have the training and experience to perform High Level Preventative Maintenance, Infrared Surveys of electrical systems, Breaker Testing, Power Quality monitoring, Surge Suppression, and a variety of other specialized services. We offer additional training for Motor Controls, Confined Space, and Generac Generator.
We are also proud to be training and educating the future electrical workforce. Our apprenticeship program allows students to receive classroom and field training as they become the future leaders in the electrical industry and earn their Journeyman Electrician License.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE is equipment that protects against health or safety risks at work.
The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 70E standard on electrical hazards provides requirements for PPE for both electrical and arc-flash hazards.
In addition to requiring workers to wear PPE, we also have strict standards that need to be followed prior to performing work that requires PPE:
- Perform hazard assessments, as required, and determine the PPE needed to protect workers.
- Provide training on the proper use of PPE for working on or near exposed energized parts
- Discuss PPE needs during required job briefings.
- Inspect and test certain PPE such as insulating (rubber) gloves and sleeves (29 CFR 1910.137) to ensure that they are not damaged or defective, and will provide the needed protection.
We recently had a hospital contact our office to complete a project that the contractor onsite could not complete. The hospital needed to replace a breaker in the switchgear but the contractor arrived and realized that the switchgear could not be shut down due to environmental issues. The contractor onsite did not have the proper PPE and equipment to work on energized equipment. The hospital knew that Transworld was committed to safety and invested in PPE. We were able to provide the proper PPE and complete the project in a safe and timely manner.
- Responsibility
We take responsibility for our own safety and for those around us. That is why we offer NFPA 70E: Electrical Hazards and Work Place Safety training courses. OSHA requires anyone who works near electrical equipment to be certified. We offer these training classes to all our customers and we also open it up to the public.
If you are interested in attending our NFPA 70E training certification, please review our NFPA 70E Training Invitation or contact Transworld for additional information.
