October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Every October, Transworld Electric acknowledges National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. National Breast Cancer Awareness month was created to help increase the awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month also serves as a reminder to all women that the best defense is early detection by scheduling regular mammograms. A mammogram can often detect a problem before there is any outward physical sign.

Similar to a mammogram, having your electrical system check can help detect any potential electrical hazards and protect your facility.  According to the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the risk of failure of electrical distribution components is 3x higher without preventive maintenance.

So, what tools can you use to detect potential electrical hazards in your electrical system?

An effective electrical preventative maintenance program should be performed on a routine basis per the National Fire Protection Association and should include the following tools and solutions.

  • Visual Inspection by licensed electricians
  • Infrared Thermography
  • Ultrasonic Testing
  • De-Energized Testing
  • Energized Testing
  • Voltage & Current Diagnostics
  • Power Factor Testing
  • Proper Torquing
  • Power Quality Analysis
  • Surge Suppression Analysis
  • Electronic documentation
  • Safety standards compliance
  • Repairs and upgrades of electrical equipment

Performing electrical preventive maintenance requires specialized training and certifications. Transworld Electric has a full-time commitment, with staff and resources, dedicated to maintaining electrical distribution systems.
